Super Falcons depart for Turkish Women’s Cup

The Super Falcons of Nigeria under the tutelage of Randy Waldrum will arrive in Turkey  on Monday to participate in the fifth edition of the Turkish Women’s Cup between February 15-24.

It would be the first competitive tournament for the Nigeria’s senior women team since the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France where they reached the round of 16. It’d also be the first outing for the new coach.

Ukraine, Serbia, India, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan and Equatorial Guinea are among teams confirmed for the tournament, Tokyo Olympics-bound Zambia have withdrawn.

The Falcons have been drawn in the same group with Uzbekistan and Equatorial Guinea and will hope to better the third place finish by the Black Queens of Ghana last year which is the best finish by an African team.
