The president of the Nigerian football federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick in a bizarre fashion, has said, that former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel was named the captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria because he is a child of God.
“we have no regret naming John Mikel Obi the captain of the team because he is a child of God and when you are a child of God, you can achieve a lot.”
Amaju Made the statement while speaking during the visit of Bukola Saraki, the president of the Nigerian senate to the Super Eagles camp in Abuja, Nigeria.
This comment has received a bucket of criticism on social media as Twitter users have labelled it “overtly religious.”
