There’s a long way to go in the title race, says Benzema
Real Madrid capitalised on rivals Atletico Madrid last minute draw against Celta Vigo on Monday night by beating Getafe 2-0 on Tuesday evening to close the gap between the two clubs to five points though Atletico have a game in hand.
Karim Benzema opened the scoring in the win over Getafe and afterwards made a bold claim that the La Liga title race is still wide open despite a strong start from Atletico that has made them early favourites.
“It was a good goal, a good centre from Vini and the ball goes in. I think we are back. It is always very difficult against Getafe. We will continue like this. There is a long way to go until the end,” Benzema told Movistar
“Each game is a final and we have to try to win every one. We are confident. There is always a lot of noise around Madrid because this is the best club in the world.”
Madrid’s next game is against Valencia as they’d look to reduce the gap on their rivals and ease pressure on Zinedine Zidane.
