McTominay shows authority in finishing positions, says Solskjær
Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær has praised young midfielder Scott McTominay for his authority on the ball when he shoots after his goal won the FA Cup game against West Ham for United.
McTominay was introduced into the game in the second half and his seventh strike of the season in the first half of extra time secured qualification to the next round for the Red Devils.
“Scott has really developed that part of his game this season. We let him go into the box more often, unleash him. He is a very good striker of the ball and a very clinical finisher. He was a striker in his youth days, you can see his authority when he gets a chance to finish.” Solskjær said after the game.
McTominay was a forward as a youth player but was converted to a midfielder by Jose Mourinho who gave him first team opportunities at Old Trafford.
Manchester United are second on the EPL table behind city rivals Manchester City and face Real Sociedad next in the Europa League knockout stages as Solskjær looks to win his first title as United’s manager.
