Playing against my former club would be interesting, says Jide Fatokun
Kwara United midfielder Jide Fatokun is relishing the prospect of facing his former club Sunshine Stars in the matchday nine fixture in Akure.
Kwara United and Sunshine Stars would face off this weekend at the Akure township stadium and if there’s one man who can’t wait it is the former Sunshine player, the midfield trojan.
“I am really happy to make the list to Akure to play against Sunshine Stars, it’s like going back home to play in front of my families and to play against my former teammates, friends and brothers.” he told OmaSports.
He made his NPFL debut with Sunshine Stars and spent three seasons before joining Kwara United at the beginning of the season and he credits the Akure club for his NPFL growth.
“I know it will be a tough game for me because the team made me and they know everything about me but I will try to double my effort and give my best.” he said.
He scored and assisted on the opening day of the NPFL in the 2-0 away win at Plateau United and has played every minute of NPFL21 season. He urges his teammates to give their best in the match; “For my team, we are going there to do our best as we used to do and see what will happen there. It will be a very interesting game.”
Kwara United are third on the NPFL table with 15 points after eight games while Sunshine Stars are seventh with 13 points. A win for either side would see them climb further up the table.
