Pitso Mosimane is lucky to coach Al Ahly, says Hossam Hassan

Egypt legend Hossam Hassan says Pitso Mosimane is lucky to coach Al Ahly after his exploits with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mosimane left Sundowns after a glittering eight-year spell where he won a treble in his final season before helping Ahly secure a treble of their own before the end of the 2020/21 season.

But the two-time CAF Champions League winning manager has not been short of criticism during his time in Cairo with Hossam’s brother, Ibrahim, suggesting Mosimane would be sacked in two games at any other Egyptian club.

However, the Al Ittihad of Alexandria boss has stopped short of agreeing with the sentiments of his technical director but did suggest that he was fortunate to have been chosen by the Ahly hierarchy after Rene Weiler.

“I am always happy to see a foreign manager in Egypt so we can benefit from his experience,” Hassan told the media, as per Yallakora.

“I love Mosimane and respect him a lot because he is a respectful coach. He achieved a tremendous leap for Sundowns in South Africa, and he is lucky to arrive at a massive club like Al Ahly.”

Ahly face fifth-place Pyramids on Tuesday evening before jetting off to Qatar for the prestigious FIFA Club World Cup tournament.
