Pirlo wins first trophy as Ronaldo becomes official all time top scorer
Juventus beat Napoli 2-0 to win the Italian Super Cup on Wednesday night to win the first trophy of Andrea Pirlo’s managerial career.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opening goal, the 760th of his career to overtake Josef Bican and become football’s official all time top scorer.
The five time world player of the year scored five goals for Sporting Lisbon, 118 for Manchester United, 450 for Real Madrid, 85 for Juventus and 102 for Portugal.
Bican scored 805 career goals but excluding goals for youth team and unofficial matches, his official figure is 759 which Ronaldo has surpassed.
After Messi was said to have broken Pele’s record of goals for a single club with 643 goals, Santos claimed Pele scored 1,019 goals for them and Pele according to his bio on social media said he has scored 1,283 goals all time.
Brazilian Romario also claimed to have scored over a thousand goals but official tally puts him at 745 and controversy continues over Messi and Ronaldo’s goal scoring exploits, but as the official figures say Messi is the record holder for most goals for a single club and Ronaldo is football’s all time top scorer.
