Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter hospitalised

Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter has been hospitalised in Switzerland, his family have confirmed.

According to her daughter Corinne Blatter Andenmatten, the 84year old whose condition was not disclosed was said to require a period of rest but his condition is improving.

“My father is in hospital. He is getting better every day. But he needs time and rest. On behalf of my family, I ask for privacy.” Corinne told Swiss publication Blick.

Blatter also spent time in hospital in 2015 and 2016 due to health problems.

He has been facing a series of corruption and criminal allegations since leaving office and was banned for eight years from football related activities but was reduced  to six years on appeal.
