Portuguese player Diogo Casimiro halts football career due to cancer


SC Braga defender Diogo Casimiro has halted his football career temporarily after being diagnosed of cancer, the club announced:

“SC Braga informs that Diogo Casimiro, athlete who is part of Team B, will interrupt his career indefinitely.

“The 22-year-old has a cancer problem after being diagnosed with lymphoma.

“SC Braga expresses, from now on, total solidarity with Diogo Casimiro, promising not to measure efforts in this battle that belongs to everyone.

“Because no Guerreiro fights battles alone.”

Casimiro plays as a right back and can also play as a centre back and a midfielder. He joined Braga in 2018 having come through the youth levels of Porto.
