England U21 player Ryan Sessegnon made a loan switch to the Germany from Tottenham at the start of the season and has made a bright start to life in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim.

He joined Hoffenheim due to lack of playing time in Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham and described his time so far in Germany as a good impression.

He followed the footsteps of fellow English youngsters like Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham to Germany and he sees it as a great opportunity to take a step out of their comfort zone to take a new challenge outside of England.

“I mean, Jadon Sancho was the first one that started the type of movement, and everyone has followed a little bit after that. So I think English players, especially young English players, have done well in Germany so far.” he said in an interview with Bundesliga.

Ryan has a twin brother, Steven, who also plays professional football and they grew up through the Fulham academy together. The two battled for who is the better Sessegnon as children.

“I think for me and my brother Steven, when we were younger it was a battle. We wanted to see who was better, who was the better twin when we were younger. A lot of fighting and little battles, but as we’ve gotten older, it’s more support and love for each other. But definitely, when we were younger it was more ‘Who’s the better Sessegnon’, who’s the better twin.”

The 21 year old who likened himself to Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and RB Leipzig’s Angelino in qualities but said he can learn from them because they’re already doing well in the Bundesliga.

He scored on his first start for Tottenham against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, he looked back on it as a massive goal for him and for his confidence

“For me to score in that game was massive for me, for my confidence. At the time, it was my first start for Tottenham so it was a good start for me, and like you say, to score against a great team like Bayern Munich, you only want to do more after that.”
