Ajax attacker Quincy Promes was arrested by the police on Sunday morning on suspicion of involvement in a serious stabbing. This took place at the end of July in a shed in Abcoude. A family member was seriously injured and suffered, among other things, very serious knee injuries.

Promes is suspected of assault resulting in serious physical injury, an offense that carries a maximum of four years in prison.

The arrest was confirmed Sunday morning by police spokesman Jelmer Geerds. He says that a 28-year-old Amsterdammer has been arrested for the stabbing incident and does not want to say anything more about the background of the suspect.

Promes was detained immediately after the arrest and is in jail. In insurance means that he has to stay in jail for a maximum of three days. The pre-trial detention can then be extended again.

At the end of July, the attacker of Ajax and Oranje gave a large family party in a warehouse of his own company in Abcoude. During the party he got into a fierce argument with a family member for unknown reasons. He is said to have stabbed him with a knife and the victim was seriously injured. Bystanders immediately came between the victim and Promes and according to witnesses could have prevented worse. The man reported the stabbing a month ago.

It is unclear why Promes was not arrested earlier. The police deny that Ajax’s playing schedule has been taken into account. “We only heard about the incident a month ago. An investigation was then started and this morning led to an arrest, ”said Geerds.
