Cristiano Ronaldo awarded Player of the Century at Globe Soccer Awards


Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded the player of the century at the Globe Soccer Awards held at Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

The award which was decided by fans online vote had Ronaldo come out on top with 21 million votes in a category that also has Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo in 2020 won the Scudetto with Juventus and reached 100 games for the club while he also surpassed 100 international goals for Portugal.

“Couldn’t be happier with tonight’s award! As I’m about to celebrate my 20th year as a professional footballer, Globe Soccer Player Of The Century is a recognition that I receive with so much joy and pride. Once again, great Gala tonight in Dubai at such an amazing place as Burj Khalifa.” Ronaldo posted on Instagram.

Ronaldo also congratulated other winners, Robert Lewandowski, Player Of The Year Award, Hans-Flick, Coach Of The Year, Pep Guardiola, Coach Of The Century.

Spanish legends Iker Casillas and Gerard Pique we’re given Career Awards. Bayern Munich was awarded team of the year while Real Madrid is the team of the century. Jorge Mendes was named Agent Of The Century Award.

“Finally I must thank, once again, to the Dubai Royal Family for the respect, friendship and hospitality that I always receive in wonderful Dubai, and to all the fans that voted for me in such a huge worldwide online voting with over 21 million votes.” Ronaldo further said.
