Danny Rose has been arrested by police in Northampton, England. The Tottenham Hotspur defender was involved in a car accident on Wednesday night and is said to have collided with a guardrail on the A45 at 4am, according to the Sun.

Rose was not injured, according to the report, but his car was badly damaged. An alcohol test at the scene of the accident is said to have been negative, but the 30-year-old was taken into custody.

A Northamptonshire police spokesman said: “We can confirm that a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.” The unnamed person is still at the police station and will be questioned there.

The former England international was last left out under Tottenham’s coach José Mourinho – last season there should have been a dispute between the coach and the player. In the current season he has not yet featured for Tottenham.

Why the defender was in Northampton is not known. His team played in the League Cup against Stoke City on Wednesday and reached the semi-finals with a 3-1 win.
