AS Roma midfielder suspended for a game for blasphemy
AS Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante has been suspended for one game for blasphemy!
In the 5-1 away win of Roma against FC Bologna last Sunday, the midfielder undoubtedly made a blasphemous statement in the 23rd minute, the league’s sports court said. That would have shown the review of television images, it was said without further information on what exactly Cristante had said.
Rome coach Paulo Fonseca will therefore have to do without the 25-year-old Italian on Thursday when his team receives Torino at home.
Indeed, it is not the first time that a professional has been punished in Italy for making blasphemous statements. This type of penalty has been possible in Italy since 2010. In 2018, for example, Rolando Mandragora from Udinese Calcio was also ordered to sit out a game because of a similar incident.
