The bond I have with Manchester United is greater than my career – Rashford
Manchester United forward has described the bond he has with the club as greater than his actual career and would forever be.
Rashford said this after receiving the Sports for Social Change Award.
“People only see things that have happened since I’ve been in the first team, but the bond I have with United is greater than these last five years and would forever be probably greater than my actual career,” the 23year old said.
“They’re the reason I’ve become a footballer, they’ve given me the opportunity to express myself and find out how talented I am in football.”
Rashford broke into the first team in 2016 and has been one of the standout performers for the club under different managers and is seen as one of the future of the club.
For me I’ve never looked beyond Manchester United, even as a kid I never looked beyond Manchester United. In my mind it doesn’t sit right for me to wear the shirt of another club,” he said.
“I just want to do the best I can for the club whilst I’m here, so hopefully I’m here for the long term.”
Rashford was also the runner-up to Lewis Hamilton in the Sportsman of the Year award, a part of British Sports Awards held by the Sports Journalists’ Association.
