UCL Roundup: Giroud Hits Four, Neymar Stars, Fred the Red


Chelsea confirmed their top spot in Group E by whitewashing Europa League holders 4-0 in Seville. French striker Olivier Giroud handed a rare start by Frank Lampard scored a perfect hattrick before adding a fourth from the spot. Krasnodar beat Rennes by a goal to secure third spot.

RB Leipzig came on top of a 7-goals thriller by beating Istanbul Basaksehir 4-3. PSG returned the favour of losing to Manchester United in Paris by handing a 3-1 loss to the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

Brazilian midfielder Fred was destined to be a red after luckily picking up a yellow for headbutting but got his marching orders after a second yellow card in the second half. Rashford continued his scoring streak against PSG while Neymar starred to take Group H to the last day with PSG, Man Utd and RB Leipzig all on nine points.

Barcelona continued their unbeaten run in the Champions League by beating Ferencvaros 3-0 with goals from Antoine Griezmann, Martin Brathwaite and Ousmane Demebele. Juventus also ran out 3-0 winners in Turin against Dynamo Kyiv with goals from Bentacur, Ronaldo and Morata. Stephanie Frappart made history by becoming the first woman to officiate a men’s Champions League game.

Borussia Dortmund and Lazio played a 1-1 draw with the former going through while Club Brugge beat Zenit 3-0.
