Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Nigerian international Joe Aribo missed the 2-2 draw against Benfica in the Europa League due to illness.
“He was unwell. He had a stomach complaint on Wednesday night. Hopefully he will be available for the weekend.
“It’s important to say it is not Covid-related. He was negative on his test, before people start putting two and two together.” he said after the match.
Rangers missed the chance to proceed after succumbing to a 2-2 draw despite being 2-0 earlier in the game.
The other Nigerian international in the team, Leon Balogun played all 90mins of the match.
