Thomas Partey continues to be out with a “significant injury” as described by manager Mikel Arteta and he will miss more games for the Gunners.
Partey was injured in the 3-0 loss against Aston Villa before the international break and according to updates in the club’s fitness bulletin the Ghanaian midfielder continues to be out.
“He had an injury very early in the game [against Aston Villa], he wanted to continue the second half,” Arteta said.
“We knew it was a significant injury. He’s done very well and he’s working very hard, he wants to be available.
“Hopefully we can get him back soon but it’s an area we need to be careful and we need to be protective with the player.
“I don’t think he will be with us in the next few games.”
Though Partey’s presence in midfield gives freedom of mobility to his teammates, he’s not responsible for their goal drought and string of poor performance. Arteta acknowledged they have several issues but he will not use them as an excuse.
Though no return date is set, the games against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League and the London derby against Tottenham at the weekend will come too early for his return.
