Antonio Conte’s side are on the verge of elimination from the Champions League after they were beaten 2-0 by Real at the San Siro.
They reacted positively with victory in the league by defeating high-flying Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium and ending their unbeaten run this season.
Inter move second ahead of Sassuolo, with both teams on 18 points after nine games, two points behind AC Milan who host Fiorentina on Sunday.
