Arsenal has moved a step closer to securing the record-breaking £92 million transfer of Declan Rice. West Ham chairman David Sullivan has given his approval for Rice to depart the club following their Europa Conference League triumph, and negotiations with Arsenal are now progressing.

Rice has emerged as Arsenal’s primary target for the summer transfer window, and the club is eager to swiftly secure his signature in preparation for the upcoming pre-season.

After guiding West Ham to victory in the Europa Conference League final, Rice’s outstanding performances earned him the accolade of being named the player of the competition by UEFA.

Last month, Telegraph Sport reported that Arsenal had been actively working on structuring a deal worth £92 million for Rice, who has been identified as the top target by manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu.

Should Arsenal successfully reach an agreement for Rice, he will surpass winger Nicolas Pepe as the club’s most expensive signing in history. Pepe, who arrived at the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2019 for £72 million, struggled to live up to expectations during his time at the club.
