Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa’s journey has been topsy-turvy. One of the finest talents to come out of the Nigerian Professional Football League, the former Kano Pillars man has always been a pace setter in his game, and most especially, humanity.

Musa’s 18 goals in the NPFL was the first time any Nigerian will score as many goals, since Ishaya Jatau’s 17 in the early 90s, and his rise has been gradual ever since. After spells in the Netherlands, Russia, and England, Musa has settled to life in Saudi Arabia.

But that’s not the crux here. The former Aminchi Academy player has shown a great resolve to ensure others are uplifted.

From doling out cash gifts and food items during the holy month of Ramadan to helping a cleaner in Uyo financially, he has always been in the news for the right reasons.

After news of his great gesture to help 100 Nigerian youths to the university broke out, Musa exclusively revealed his decision for taking that action, after signing an ambassadorial deal with the Kano-based university.

”You know I grew up in one of the poorest families and I didn’t have any good education,” he said.

”I stopped schooling in class 5 in the primary school, and I couldn’t go further because my parents didn’t have money to take me further in my studies.

”For me, I’m playing football and getting blessed the way I am, and I just felt I had to do that after signing the contract with them. I signed the contract so that I can sponsor a lot of students and that’s why I did what I did because education is one of the best things.

”With education, you can achieve all you want to achieve. I didn’t get that opportunity to be more educated and that’s why I decided to give people that are not financially capable to further their education,” Musa told Omasports.
