Victor Osimhen, Nigeria and Lille striker has explained reasons behind his fury during the game against Ajax. Osimhen, known for his hunger and willingness to always make a mark revealed why he got angry at a teammate during the game against Ajax. ‘I was angry because we could have gotten a goal or two and I had some chances too and when this ball doesn’t go in, I get disappointed in myself because I know I can do better, but we have learnt our lessons and we will go very hard in the next game and try to get the win,’ he told Omasports.

Further giving a hint of what his journey has been like since his record-breaking outing at the U-17 World Cup. Osimhen who was snapped up by German Bundesliga side, VFL Wolfsburg after the tournament in 2015, said it has been a good journey for him even if he had to take a step back to have a better glare into the future.

”It’s been a rosy journey. I felt good and thought all was set after the U-17 World Cup but I went to Wolfsburg and didn’t get enough playing time. Regardless of that, I learnt a lot at the club and it prepared me for the future in which I’m living now. ”Of course, I had to take a step back and go to Belgium to resurrect my career and it worked well for me and it’s why I’m here, working hard to get to where I want. ”Being in Lille is a dream come true for him. The French Ligue 1 is one of the best leagues in the world. I’m doing well, and I don’t want this momentum to stop.” The young attacker further revealed that he is not being carried away by his performances as he just wants to help the team and meet his personal target and set standard. ”The team has a target. Not just me. We will go back to check our mistakes and come out strong against a difficult Chelsea. With our fans behind us, we will get a positive result and I’ll get among the goals.” ”I set a standard for myself, I have a personal target which I try to meet. I’m a team player, I go on the pitch to help my team. Maybe I’m not there yet, I know consistency is key and I think I’ll be able to do it,” he said.
