Former Real Madrid player and the team’s head of Public Relations, Emiliano Butragueno has said Real Madrid has a team good enough to compete for the Champions League in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo joined Italian giants, Juventus in a €100m deal in the summer of 2018 and this saw the Los Merengues struggle for form.

Butragueno, speaking to Omasports after the 2019/2020 Draws and awards were rolled said ‘Zizou’, a Real Madrid great himself is back to win laurels as that’s what the team is all about.

”We try to win every game and competition. That’s part of our history. We will try to win this again, and we will try to win this competition. It is a tough competition, the most prestigious in the world but we will see what we can do.

”The best teams in Europe and best players in every game is a challenge. We have to be prepared for them. Of course, we have players with enough experience and talent to make us try at least and come back for the next draws.”

On if Real Madrid are searching for another big star to fill the vacuum created by the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo, Butragueno said.

”We have great players to deal with Ronaldo’s exit, we’ll see how it goes.”
