Robbie Fowler, the famous Liverpool number 7 of old has said Senegalese star, Sadio Mane is a blessing to the Reds.
Mane, regarded as one of Africa’s finest exports to Europe has been a sensation ever since he signed for Liverpool from Southampton.
His level-headedness has been astounding and has further improved on his stellar displays.
Many in Africa, however, believe that the former Red Bull Salzburg attacker is not getting the accolades he deserves at Merseyside as a result of the fact that he is African.
Fowler, while speaking to OmaSport in Nyon Switzerland, shortly after the quarter-final and semi-final draws of the UEFA Champions League, disagreed with Mane’s fans on their take saying, he is highly regarded, not only in Liverpool, in the football world generally and has built a cult hero status.
”I totally disagree. I believe he has so much respect. He is a wonderful player, and we are blessed at Liverpool to have him.
Mo salah as well, he has been tremendous. And even last year, Sadio performed brilliantly, this year he has upped his game, and he looks an outstanding player, and he will go from strength to strength. I don’t think he is underestimated, and I think people realise and know how good he is,” Fowler said.
Mane was nominated amongst the final three in the 2018 African Footballer of the Year Awards, where he came second behind his Liverpool teammate Mo Salah, and is well placed to earn another nomination and eventually win the next edition of the award.
