The Super Eagles of Nigeria are back to their World Cup team base camp in Essentuki after beating Iceland by 2-0 in their second group game in Volgograd. Ahmed Musa scored 2 second-half goals in a match that offered little in the first half, to send Nigerian footballs fans worldwide into rapture. The players of the team have urged their teeming supporters in Nigeria and globally to put a hold on the celebrations until the final whistle of their make or break encounter against Argentina.
The captain of the side John Obi Mikel said:
“We celebrated the win yesterday but today is another day, and the focus is on Argentina. That is the only thing on our minds now. It is essential that we keep the focus and plan our strategy quite well.
“We thank Nigerians from all over the world for their support. Their faith in us and their belief in our ability have continued to propel us. We will set up very well against Argentina to get a result.”
Nigeria will take on a Lionel Messi led Argentina team, who themselves are hoping for a win against Nigeria to stand any chance of advancing to the next round on Tuesday 26 June 2018 in St Petersburg.
