Next July, Paris Saint-Germain’s first team will travel to Singapore to play in the 2018 International Champions Cup, which will be the Parisians’ first tour in Asia since 2014. The announcement was made in Singapore today and attended by Maxwell Scherrer, Sports Coordinator and former star of the Club, and Sébastien Wasels, Asia-Pacific Director at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 55,000-seat National Stadium in Singapore will play host to the Rouge & Bleu for two prestigious matches, against Arsenal on 28th July and against Atletico Madrid on 30th July. Paris Saint-Germain have chosen GeyLang Training Center as their base, located in the heart of the city-state.

Recently-crowned French Champions for the seventh time in their history, Paris Saint-Germain will continue their tour in Shenzhen, China, where they will play in the 2018 Trophée des Champions.

Sebastien Wasels, Paris Saint-Germain’s Director for Asia-Pacific, announced, “We are delighted to return to Asia for the first time in 4 years. The Club has made great progress during this time. We now have 55 million fans worldwide, more than a third of whom are based in Asia.

This tour is a way of boosting the Club’s development. Thanks to our new office in Singapore, our partnership with Desports, and the broadcasting agreement signed between CCTV and the Ligue 1 in China, Paris Saint-Germain are becoming much more present in Asia. And we will soon announce a number of new projects in the region.”

Maxwell Scherrer, Sports Coordinator and former star of Paris Saint-Germain, added, “The team has never played in Singapore, so it will be a unique opportunity for our fans to meet the players and forge a real bond. We are all looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere in the National Stadium.”

Paris Saint-Germain’s summer tour fulfils three objectives: the Parisians will prepare for the coming season by playing against prominent European teams, they will meet their Asian fans, and their partners will benefit from the Club’s blossoming popularity in the region.

To date, Paris Saint-Germain have 17 million fans on the Club’s social media pages in Asia, including 1.5 million in China.
