Jerome Boateng to visit Ghana for the first time ever this summer

German and Bayern Munich defender, Jerome Boateng has announced that he will be visiting his roots in Ghana, for the first time ever in the summer of 2018. The German national team star revealed this while speaking on a show tagged “Kick Off” on  DW.com

“I have been to Africa but did not go to Ghana, but I will be going with my family this summer. I have made a plan to go with other members of my family as well” Boateng

He may not have ever visited Africa, but the football star has Africa in his heart, this is displayed through a massive tattoo of Africa and Ghana on his left shoulder. Boateng, who is a huge tattoo buff also talked about how his love for tattoos started.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“It started when I was 16, 17 years old. I was with my two older brothers and they said oh yea, today we get some tattoos done, we all do the same tattoo. You don’t have to tell your mum because she will say no, we just go and get it done. and I was like ‘Ok let’s do it’, so we went and we did the same tattoos, we did Africa and Ghana inside”

Boateng is an Afro-German and was born to a German mother named Martina Boateng and Ghanaian father in Berlin.

He is the younger, paternal half-brother of fellow professional footballer, Kevin-Prince_Boateng . Kevin has been to Ghana on several occasions having played for the black stars of Ghana as well as representing Ghana at the FIFA World Cup. 2006 in Germany and 2014 in Brazil.

Boateng is engaged to his long-time girlfriend Sherin Senler. Boateng and Senler have two children together, Soley and Lamia. Twin girls born on 8 March 2011.

Barring injuries, Jerome Boateng will be part of the German National team to the FIFA World Cup, Russia 2018, as they attempt to retain the title they won in Brazil 4 years ago.
