According to a report from Spanish outlet Don Balon, Barcelona is ready to offer up midfielder Andre Gomes in a January bid for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil

Ozil, who has provoked heated arguemnts among both fans and pundits due to his sluggish style on the pitch, has been at Arsenal since 2013, arriving from Real Madrid for 50 million Euro.

However, the skilfull German’s contract in North London is due to expire next summer, with early reports indicating that he is leaning towards departing the club, rather than signing a new deal.

A number of clubs are said to be showing interest in taking Ozil away from the Emirates, whether it be on a free transfer next summer, or in a cut-price deal in January.

Manchester United have been the most heavily linked, with Jose Mourinho reportedly keen to bring the former Schalke star to Old Trafford for nothing next summer.

Along with the Red Devils, all of Inter Milan, Fenerbahce, and, rather surprisingly, Barcelona have also been touted as potential destinations for Ozil.

Fc Barcelona reportedly sees the smooth, crafty playing style of the 29-year-old as one which would fit perfectly into their system in Catalonia, and have identified the Gunners star as an alternative to Liverpool crown jewel Philippe Coutinho.

According to the aforementioned report from Don Balon, the Catalan giants are considering including midfielder Andre Gomes in a January offer for Ozil.

Portuguese international Gomes has struggled to settle since making the move to the Camp Nou last summer from Valencia for a fee with the potential to rise to a massive 55 million Euro and was heavily linked with both Tottenham and Manchester United during the summer.

Arsenal is rumoured to be on the lookout for midfield reinforcements, though it remains to be seen whether they would be interested in bringing Gomes to North London.
