Paris Saint-Germain football club are already ripping the dividends of signing Brazilian Superstar Neymar JR from FC Barcelona albeit, off the pitch.
Since the arrival of Neymar Jr. on 4th August 2017, Paris Saint-Germain’s popularity has reached new heights on Instagram and other social platforms.
Since the player’s arrival in Paris, the club’s Instagram account has attracted six times more fans each week and overall they have seen twice as much engagement across the platform.
Since August, when Neymar Jr joined the club:
– Facebook: Having attracted 1.4 million new fans since August, Paris Saint-Germain is the second fastest-growing football club on Facebook. It is the world’s seventh most popular football franchise with 32 million fans. The Parisian club is particularly popular in Indonesia (4.2 million fans), Brazil (3.6 million), France (2.3 million), Algeria (2.2 million), and in Egypt, India, Mexico and Morocco, where it has more than a million fans.
– Instagram: Having attracted 1.7 million new fans since August, Paris Saint-Germain is the fastest-growing franchise on Instagram. It is the world’s seventh most popular football franchise with more than 10 million fans. The Club has worked with a series of influencers who have documented their experiences at the Parc des Princes on their Instagram channels.
– Twitter: Having attracted 734,000 new fans since August, Paris Saint-Germain is the seventh fastest-growing franchise on Twitter and the world’s tenth most popular football franchise with 5,510,742 fans.
– YouTube: Having attracted 120,000 new fans since August, Paris Saint-Germain is the world’s third fastest-growing franchise on YouTube. It is the world’s tenth most popular football franchise with 570,000 fans.

Paris Saint-Germain’s digital progress is also due to its new PSG.FR website and associated ONE APP, which were both launched last July.
The website, which features PSG content and stories, boasts twice as many visitors as the same period last season, with significant peaks in Korea (eight times as many visitors) as well as in Germany, the United States, England and Italy.
More than 425,000 users visited the website on the day that Neymar Jr signed and nearly 500,000 on the day he arrived in Paris.
Meanwhile, 10,000 applications were downloaded on 4th August, and 140,000 have been downloaded subsequently.
