BERTI VOGTS PREDICTS TOUGH START FOR NEW BAYERN MANAGER JUPP HEYNCKES

Former Nigerian national team coach, Berti Vogts believes the new Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes will face difficult months ahead. “This team is so poorly put together and partly overaged, for this reasons, the best Jupp can achieve with them is a Bundesliga title,” wrote Vogts in his column for t-online.de.

The fact that Heynckes has not trained a team for more than four years and is already 72, is, however, not a problem. “I have concerns for him but on the contrary, he is now fresh, well-equipped and very fit,” Vogts wrote. “The three, four-year break did him good, and Jupp was certainly never away from football.”

Vogt who coached the Nigeria Eagles of Nigeria as well as leading Germany to Euro 2006 glory expressed his concerns about the chances of Julian Nagelsmann, the young coach who currently manages Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. He advises Bayern Munich against hiring Julian Nagelsmann who he thinks may not have what it takes yet to manage a club as huge as Bayern. “For me, this is a big question mark, whether the young coaches like Nagelsmann really should switch to FC Bayern next summer the demands at that level are extremely high and they might burn him out too early. This is a world class club on the same level with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.”
