Goals they say make football thick but beautiful goals takes it a notch higher. The beauty of football is further enhanced by the quality of goals scored week in week out. One of such goals came all the way from China over the weekend and interestingly, it was made in Mushin Nigeria. Asisat Lamina Oshoala plays for Chinese side Dalian Quanjian F.C. in the Chinese Women’s Super League as a forward.
She starts the attack her self. Sends the ball to her teammate who also passes it to another of her teammate on the flank. She beats off her challenger and sends the ball into the box for Oshoala who arrived just in time, controls the ball, the goalkeeper approaches but she was faster than her, she rounds the goalkeeper and then does the unexpected. A beautiful backheel! Not what every player would have done after successfully rounding the goalkeeper, a simple tap in would have been fine but Oshoala decided to create what German commentators will call “Unglaublich” unbelievable.
Oshoala, who was voted African footballer of the year by the BBC in 2005 was named best player and was the highest goal scorer at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. She was also named best player and the second top goalscorer with the Super Falcons team who won the 2014 African Women’s Championship.
