Thomas Lemar will reject Arsenal for a chance to join Manchester United, according to reports.
The Monaco star has been a target for the Gunners all summer, but the Red Devils have since entered the fray, with Arsenal appearing to have cooled their interest but it is believed the winger would rather join Jose Mourinho’s side.
Monaco had previously said they would not be selling the Frenchman, but reports in Europe suggest there is a slight glimmer of hope that he will, after all, be allowed to leave.
The Gunners were very keen on a £45million deal but Wenger said: “It’s dead because Monaco don’t want to sell.
“Kylian Mbappe, Fabinho… they have lost already Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko.
“So Monaco is at a stage where they have closed the door.”
But the 21-year old, who scored 11 goals in Ligue 1 and the Champions League last season, is keen on a move to the Premier League.
And Lemar already has an assist under his belt this time around, with Leonardo Jardim’s side winning their opening three matches of the campaign.
Even though Jose Mourinho already has Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, Lemar’s pace and ability from wide areas would really suit United’s style of play.
