Amokachi Dropped Me From 2013 AFCON Winning Squad – Raheem Lawal

Former Super Eagles player Raheem Lawal has accused former assistant coach of the Super Eagles and ex-international Daniel Amokachi of dropping him from the 2013 Super Eagles squad that went on to win the 2013 AFCON.

Lawal who was playing for Adana Demirspor in the Turkish League when he made his Super Eagles debut in September 2012 and signed for Mersin IY a week before the commencement of AFCON was overlooked for the tournament in South Africa.

He has ascribed his omission to Amokachi who he claimed in a series of posts on his Instagram story was influential in him getting dropped because he had some players to sell to the Super Eagles.

He had kind words for then head coach Late Stephen Keshi and also said Ike Shorumu couldn’t help prevent Amokachi from dropping him and denied having his name written in gold.

He is currently signed to Turkish club Akhisarspor. He has spent most of his career in the Turkish league and also had time in Spain and UAE.

He was without a club for some months after he was sacked by then club Fatih Karagümrük and declared wanted by the Turkish police for a brawl at a late night party.
