Ghana defender Baba Rahman says he is not surprised that the Bafana Bafana of South Africa could not get at least a draw to see them through to the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon.
Rahman made his inference from South Africa’s 1-1 draw against a weakened Ghana team in South Africa and his own experience playing in Sudan and said he knew it would be difficult for South Africa.
“I had it in mind that it will be difficult for South Africa to win there,” Rahman told FootballMadeInGhana. “I have been there and I saw how they played. If you go to Sudan or when we went there, the football wasn’t attractive.
“They just want to win and so if you are not tough or have a bit of experience [at international level], then you get beaten easily. I knew it would be tough for South Africa to get a draw over there.”
Baba Rahman is a Chelsea player, having signed from Augsburg in 2015 but has not made much competitive actions for the Blues having been sent on multiple loans and is currently on loan at PAOK in Greece.
