Nigerian Professional Football League club Rivers United have handed an indefinite suspension to the goalkeeper Theo Afelokhai and defender Ifeanyi Anaemena for what they describe as ‘unethical and unsportsmanlike conduct’, according to sports journalists Andrew Randa
Rivers United signed both players from Enyimba at the beginning of the season. Goalkeeper Afelokhai, 32, has played three games for Rivers United and kept two clean sheets while defender Anaemena has played four games, scoring one goal.
Rivers United are currently eight on the NPFL table with 18 points from 11 games. They missed out on a chance for continental football after losing to fellow NPFL side Enyimba.
