Jamal Musiala snubs England, to represent Germany internationally

Bayern Munich youngster Jamal Musiala has chosen to represent the country of his birth Germany over England, a country he also represented at youth levels.

“In the end, I just listened to the feeling that over a long period of time kept telling me that it was the right decision to play for Germany, the land I was born in. Still, it wasn’t an easy decision for me.” Musiala told The Athletic.

Musiala scored in Bayern Munich’s 4-1 demolition of SS Lazio last night to become Bayern’s youngest Champions League goalscorer at 17years and 363days.

Musiala was born in Germany to a British-Nigeria father and a German mother and spent more than half of his life in England before he transferred from Chelsea youth to Bayern Munich.

He has accepted Joachim Löw’s invitation to join the DFB team for the upcoming international games in March. FIFA rules stipulate players under the age of 21 can switch national teams provided they have featured in no more than three matches for the nation they first represented at senior level, including friendlies.
