Guardiola judged me on two games, he killed my confidence – Angelino

RB Leipzig left back Angelino has hit out at former boss Pep Guardiola for killing his confidence during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

Angelino made his loan spell at RB Leipzig permanent last week after the club announced a condition to make the move permanent.

Angelino joined Manchester City as a youth player and went on several loans before joining PSV Eindhoven on a permanent move. City activated his buyback clause a year later but failed to make any impact and was shipped to Germany.

“It killed me. The confidence was everything, when you don’t have the trust of a coach it is everything. I was judged from two pre-season games and then I didn’t get my chance for a few months,” Angelino told a news conference.

“On one side I really learned a lot from Pep, but I obviously didn’t play as much as I wanted to or deserved to.”

Angelino is an important member of Julian Nagelsmann’s RB Leipzig and helped the team reach the semi final of last season Champions League. He drew a similarity between Nagelsmann and Guardiola, and stated the difference between the two.

“They both like to play with the ball, get the ball quick. There is one thing that is a big difference – one gave me the confidence and played me and the other didn’t.” he said.
