Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies has set his sights on becoming the Bavarian giants captain and also winning the prestigious Ballon D’Or.

Davies had a standout breakout year and was instrumental in Bayern Munich winning the domestic and continental treble. That earned him a place in the FIFPRO XI and he isn’t resting on his laurels.

“To be Bayern captain would be unbelievable,” Davies told Tageszeitung (via bundesliga.com)

“But I have a lot still to learn, I have to play consistently to a top level and improve my communication. I’ve learned a lot already in terms of being a leader, but there’s still more – I’m working on it.”

The Canadian recognises fellow youngsters and Borussia Dortmund duo Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho as future Ballon D’Or winners but says he can win too.

“I’d also like to be a Ballon d’Or contender (laughs). I think Erling Haaland will be in the mix, and I can also see Jadon Sancho being up there. And why not me? (laughs). There are always candidates from Bayern.” he said.

Davies is currently with Bayern in Qatar for the Club World Cup where they’d hope to complete a clean sweep of all competitions they’ve participated in in the last year when they take on Mexican club Tigres UNAL tonight.
