Holstein Kiel continued its triumphant advance in the DFB Cup and reached the quarter-finals for the third time with a win on penalties against Darmstadt 98.
Three weeks after their second-round coup against triple winners Bayern Munich, the North Germans also won the second division duel in the round of 16 with Darmstadt 98 again on penalties 7: 6. After 120 minutes, the match was 1:1.
Kiel was most recently in the top eight in the cup competition in 2012. Darmstadt, on the other hand, has to wait for his first quarter-final participation since 1987.
