The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria have proceeded to the semifinal of WAFU B tourney in Lome, Togo despite a 1-1 draw with rivals Ghana.
The Eaglets were presented a lifeline after Cote D’Ivoire beat The Black starlets 3-1 today, which means the Eaglets proceed ahead of Ghana on goal difference.
The Eaglets lost their first game against the Baby Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire 1-0 and with just a point from a possible six had to rely on Cote D’Ivoire beating Ghana with at least two goals to qualify.
Nigeria will face Niger Republic in the semifinal on Friday, while Burkina Faso and Cote D’Ivoire will play the second semifinal match.
The two finalists will book their place at the Africa U17 Cup of Nations to be held in Morocco later in July.
