FFF introduces new format for Coupe de France 2020/21 due to coronavirus challenges

The FFF Executive Committee meeting on Thursday, December 17 validated the new formats of the French Cups for men and women for the current season.

Faced with a health situation that disrupts the progress of the Men’s French Cup and the Women’s French Cup, the FFF Executive Committee chaired by Noël Le Graët adopted on Thursday new formats for these two competitions.

For the Men’s French Cup, the principle of an event organized in two ways until the round of 16 was retained: one route for the clubs of Ligue 1 (entry into the running in the 32nd of finals) and Ligue 2 (entry in the 8th round), and a second way for the other clubs.

For the Women’s French Cup, the twelve clubs of D1 Arkema will play a first round between themselves (six matches) in the round of 16, before being joined by the other clubs qualified from the round of 16.

These measures reflect the will of the FFF to allow these two French Cups to come to an end and to allow all clubs to participate.

The new calendars will be communicated later.
