Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will reach a special milestone at the weekend when Chelsea take on Spurs at the weekend at Stamford Bridge.

The match would be the 1,000th game since the Russian billionaire became the club owner in July 2003. Roman’s era is the most successful in the club’s history, an era during which the club is the most successful English club.

The match can come against no better opponent than local rival Tottenham, a club that Roman reportedly first considered buying before buying Chelsea. Tottenham is now managed by the most successful manager of the Abramovich era, Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea have won 16 trophies in this era, five Premier League (including the first in 50years for the club in 2005), five FA Cups, three League Cups, two Community Shields, two Europa League and the 2012 Champions League. The women team and youth teams have also enjoyed success domestically and continentally.

Chelsea is currently managed by the highest scoring player of the era, Frank Lampard (196 goals) with Petr Cech (228 clean sheets) as the technical director.

The club had 13 managers (both permanent and interim) before Frank Lampard starting with Claudio Ranieri. Jose Mourinho is the most successful but it was Roberto Di Matteo who delivered the highly coveted Champions League.
