Osimhen, speaking to Omasport’s Oma Akatugba said about the game; ”For me, it’s a devastating result because we were hoping to at least get a win in this competition.
”On a personal level, I think I did well, because I had occasions I could have gotten an assist. It’s not just about me, it’s about the team,” he said.
Osimhen talked about comparisons with iconic legend, Rashidi Yekini and Nigerians’ pleasance in his performances. Osimhen laughed and said;
”Dem don warn me make I no compare myself with Yekini oo”.
”For me, if a team wins, it’s good to have individual praise but I think the team did quite well and of course, to get two goals and assist is a quite good occasion for me.
”I’m happy I could pull such good performance for my country. Kudos to the gaffer, Gernot Rohr for believing in me. As a young player, you don’t need more than the motivation he’s giving me. I’ll continue to work hard for both club and country and see what the future holds.
”There’s no comparison between me and late Rashidi Yekini. May his soul rest in peace. I go to YouTube to look at his games. To be compared with him, ‘mae I no lie, the thing heavy oo’ (laughs).
”I just want to continue to do well for club and country. We are top of the group now and we have a game against Sierra Leone in Nigeria. I want to feature more and I want the coach to give me more opportunities. I still have a lot to give the Super Eagles, they haven’t seen anything yet,” he concluded.
