Hard to believe: Zé Roberto has played his very last football game at the age of 43!

The Brazilian, who played for Bayern, HSV, Leverkusen and Real Madrid among others, calls time on his football career after 23 years on the field. He said goodbye on a winning note as Palmeiras Sao Paulo beat Botafogo FR 2-0.. His teammates made him shine, on his lap of honor as he did  with tears rolling down his eyes.

Zé Roberto: “I end a winning cycle that could not have been done better than winning. With everything I’ve contributed to football, I’m leaving happily. ”

Zoe Roberto started his career In Sao Paulo in 1994 at Portuguesa.

Zé Roberto played mores than half of his 1161 professional games in Germany.

Between 1998 and 2011, he completed 336 league games, won four Bundesliga and German cup titles with Bayern. He won the 1998 Champions League with Real Madrid. He also has two Copa America winning medals with the Brazilian national team, the Selecao (1997 and 1999). Most recently in 2016, he won the  Brazilian championship with Palmerias
